Instructions for Tufo Products

This page contains a collection of instructions for the use of a variety of TUFO products. Included are also some video clips for a more visual demonstration of tire mounting and dismounting.
Storage:

Store our tubular clincher tires always in a dark and dry place. Best stored on a rim, inflated to 8 bars (115 psi).
Use:

Always inflate the tire according to the specifications on the tire label. Check the tire for possible damage before riding (wear, cuts, separation or bumps). Do not use damaged tire. After a ride, clean tires thoroughly. Do not use any solvent based cleaners. When using the tires on a roller trainer, always inflate to the maximum air pressure as indicated on the tire label. This will prevent the tires from overheating and possible destruction.
Mounting
  1. Make sure that the rim is the right size, according to the tire label. Do not use rim tape. Do not use any tools.
  2. Complete deflation of the tire is necessary before installation.
  3. Place the wheel on a firm surface (valve opening on top). Slide the tire valve through valve hole in the rim. Starting from the valve, stretch the tire evenly on both sides (fig. 1a) and lay half of the bottom rubber profile into the rim well (fig. 1b) step by step, all around (fig. 1c). If the tubular clincher tire is hard to put on towards the end (fig. 1d), do not use excessive force but start mounting again from the valve and stretch the tire harder.
  4. Inflate the tire slightly (fig. 2) to around 1 bar (15 p.s.i.).
  5. Lift the tire from the rim well with fingers (fig. 3a) and fit the groove of the rubber bead profile into the rim lip (fig. 3b) all around one side of the rim. If you cannot lift the tire, deflate it slightly.
  6. Push with thumbs on the other side of the rubber bead profile (fig. 4a) and fit the groove into the rim lip all around again (fig. 4b).
  7. Inflate the tire to 5 bars (75 p.s.i.) [MTB to 2 bars (30 p.s.i.)] and check for fit on both sides of the rim. Refit if necessary (fig. 5).
  8. Inflate the tire to the recommended pressure as indicated on the tire label.

Dismounting:
  1. Deflate the tire completely.
  2. With a pressure of both thumbs (fig. 6a), push the rubber bead profile away from the rim lip and lift upwards (fig. 6b), above the rim. Repeat along the rim for 10-15".
  3. Turn the wheel around. Pushing with both thumbs again, away from you at the same spot, free a portion of the tire from the rim (fig. 7).
  4. Grab the free portion of the tire and pull away from the rim all the way around the wheel to finish dismounting.
Putting the tire on takes less than a minute [MTB less than 2 minutes], taking it off only a few seconds.

Sealant Extreme - Instructions For Use

USE
Read the manufacturer’s instructions before use of the sealant and adhere to them. The sealant is for fl at repairs of Tufo tubular and tubular clincher tyres. If you use it for repair of other tyre brands, it might not work properly and can cause product damage.

STORAGE
Do not expose the sealant to direct sunshine or keep at freezing temperatures. Store in original packaging at room temperature.

WARNING!
Be careful when using the sealant. Do not spill on clothing or inject into eyes. Keep out of reach of children. In case the sealant loses the liquid consistence, press the tube fi rmly for a few minutes together with your fi ngers or hand.

REMOVABLE VALVE CORE (used in all Tufo tyres)
This type of valve consists of a valve stem and a valve core – two separate parts. The valve core is screwed into the valve stem.

FLAT REPAIR
  1. Shake wheel before use!
  2. Turn the wheel to place the valve in 8 o’clock position
  3. Using the valve tool, unscrew the valve core from the valve stem (fig. 1)
  4. Insert the applicator into the valve stem and squeeze in about 1/3 (road tyres)
  5. or ˝ (CX and MTB tyres) of the tube content (fig. 2)
  6. Screw the valve core back into the valve stem (fig. 3)
  7. Turn the wheel to give the sealant a chance to get to the puncture spot (fig. 4)
  8. Infl ate the tyre and continue riding
  9. If the puncture is larger, infl ate the tyre slightly, the sealant should not be leaking out, continue riding after the sealant dries. If necessary, repeat the procedure.
Sealant Standard - Instructions For Use

USE
Read the manufacturer’s instructions before use of the sealant and adhere to them. The sealant prevents and repairs fl ats of Tufo tubular and tubular clincher tyres. If you use it for repair of other tyre brands, it might not work properly and can cause product damage.

Do not expose the sealant to direct sunshine or keep at freezing temperatures. Store in original packaging at room temperature.

WARNING!

TUFO Tubular Tyre Gluing Tape - Instructions For Use

Dear Customer, thank you for choosing a TUFO product. Please observe the enclosed instructions for use and warranty conditions.

STORAGE
Store at room temperature.

USE

I. Gluing tape for tubular road tyres
This gluing tape has been developed for use with TUFO tubular road tyres. If used with other tubular tyre brands, the gluing tape might not function properly. Suitable for carbon and alloy rims.

II. Gluing tape for tubular MTB tyres
This gluing tape has been developed for use with TUFO tubular MTB tyres and rims. If used with other tubular tyre and rim brands, the gluing tape might not function properly. Suitable for carbon and alloy rims.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Make sure the rim size corresponds to the size on the tubular tyre label. Do not use any tools for installation.
  2. Check for the spoke protrusion over the rim profile. File down sharp rim edges.
  3. Sand down the new rim, clean with solvent and leave to dry. Carbon rims - just clean with solvent.
  4. Keep the tubular tyre base tape, gluing tape and rim completely dry during the installation process.
  5. Possible moisture during the installation process can cause gluing tape failure and tubular tyre separation from the rim.
  6. Deflate the tubular tyre completely before installation (fig. 1).
  7. Firstly, stick the gluing tape including the red protective foil to the rim all the way around, starting and ending at the rim valve hole, cut off the excess (fig. 2 - 3). Push the gluing tape down to the rim all the way around with your fingers to create a good bond.
  8. Peel off the red protective foil of the gluing tape in both directions away from the valve stem hole for about 5 cm (2 inches) and bend both ends over the rim (fig. 4). ATTENTION! Make sure the white narrow strip with active surface of the gluing tape is facing the tubular tyre.
  9. Start the tubular tyre installation by pushing the valve stem through the rim hole. Stretch the tubular tyre evenly away from the valve on both sides as you mount it on the rim. The tubular tyre will sit first on the exposed part of the gluing tape and the rest will sit on the protective red foil (fig. 5). After the installation, inflate the tubular tyre slightly and center it on the rim (fig. 6).
  10. Deflate a tubular tyre, pull at one loose end of the red protective foil all the way around the tubular tyre-rim joint (fig. 7). Inflate the tyre to the recommended pressure as indicated on the tyre label.
  11. Proper tubular tyre-rim bond will be achieved after a ride of few meters on properly inflated tubular tyre. For your maximum safety, check the tubular tyre-rim bond before every ride!
